💡 Tip: Ability to add & edit permissions is only available to Admins.

Add new users or observers to Outset

You can add users to your Outset organization at any time. This is helpful if your team is growing, or if other members need access to view or manage research.

To add someone to your Outset account:

  1. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

  1. Select Organization Settings from the dropdown.

  2. Click the Add Members button.

  3. Enter the user’s name and email.

  4. Choose their role (Admin, Researcher, or Observer).

  5. If your account has multiple workspaces, select which workspace(s) they should have access to—or grant access to all.

Once added, the user will receive an email invitation to join Outset.

Add new users or observers to a Workspace

If your organization uses multiple workspaces (for example, to separate teams or research campaigns), you can also manage workspace-specific access.

To edit or add users to a specific workspace:

  1. Click Workspaces in the left-hand navigation bar. Or, in A Workspace: Navigate to the side bar on the left hand side of your screen and click on Project Settings.

  2. Select the workspace you want to edit.

  3. Click Edit Organization Details at the top of the screen.

  4. Under the Members section, you can add new users, remove existing ones, or change their permissions.

Only Admins can manage workspace-level permissions. If you're not seeing these options, check with your team to confirm your access level.

Workspaces - What are they?

Workspaces the highest level of organization for your account. It essentially splits your account into research campaigns, within which you create projects, which in turn house individual studies.

In the navbar on the left side of the screen, you'll see a tab titled Workspaces.

Here, you'll be able to edit everything you need to about your workspaces, depending on your permissions. If you want to edit the details of a workspace, simply click on a workspace and you'll be able to modify membership and permissions.
