Can Outset help me launch studies in other languages?

Our studies have been run successfully in dozens of countries. Advances in AI translation make it easy to write an interview guide in English and then run it and analyze it in another language. This extends the ability of researcher teams to get the input of new audiences, and vastly reduces cost and time associated with international input.

Most questions can be automatically translated to the language of your choosing to enable international interviews. In addition, transcripts can be easily translated back to your native language as you review results and analysis. Read more here about guidance on what can be translated automatically via Outset and what may need to be translated manually (LINK).

How does Outset handle dialects or local variations?

We've run studies recently in both Spanish and Portuguese for various countries (e.g., Mexico/Chile/Spain for Spanish and Portugal/ Brazil for Portuguese). The feedback we get from these studies is that the AI moderator's language is a more "neutral" version of the language that is understandable across multiple countries. It is able to understand various accents and local variations as input.

However, this language support may not extend to actual dialects of languages. e.g., Cantonese or Shanghainese may not be fully supported. Additionally, if your target audience has an extremely different accent or usage vs. standard, it may be worth doing a "soft launch" of your study to confirm that transcription and depth of follow-up are as expected.
