Currently, Outset offers five interview modes: Chat, Voice response, Video response, Screenshare (beta), and Voice-to-voice (beta). Changing modes doesn't change the method for creating an interview, but it does allow you to receive your responses in a different form.

Advanced Settings
Interviewer style
Choose from three different AI interviewer styles:
High follow-ups, high empathy (default)
This mode is where Outset's AI really shines. You can expect your interviewer to delve deep with your participants, asking many follow-up questions and building a strong rapport by saying things like "That's interesting! Tell me more."
High follow-ups, low empathy
This mode is like an advanced survey, which can dive deeper with participants on each question, but will make little effort to build rapport.
Low follow-ups, low empathy
This mode is most like a survey. Your interviewer will rarely follow-up and make little effort to build rapport with your participant.
Max interviews
The number you enter here determines how many times you interview can be run. Be sure not to send interviews to more participants than the number of interviews you entered here as the interview will not work for participants after the quota set here has been achieved.
Passing metadata
You can choose to pass metadata collected during screening along to the AI interviewer to guide it through the interview. For example, the interviewer may skip certain questions if they are not relevant to the participant based on screening data.
